We are excited to announce that Opportunity GrantED and Redefined Fitness are launching a collaborative fundraising campaign called Dollars for Devices! Together, we set a goal to raise $30,000 in the month of July to provide 100 chromebooks to Sherman School of Excellence on the southwest side of Chicago. This special campaign is outside of Opportunity GrantED’s typical grant cycles, and we are excited to broaden our impact with Redefined Fitness.
These chromebooks will be awarded to students that do not have access to devices at home, allowing them to stay connected to teachers and be accountable for their school work. They will also maintain and develop their technology literacy, which is essential for all students in order to address the significant learning loss that occurred during the pandemic.
“The pandemic has had an uneven impact on students in various ways, exacerbating racial disparities that already existed in our communities,” CPS’ Chief of Teaching and Learning Sherly Chavarria told the Board of Education last week. “In order to ensure to prioritize students most impacted, we need a shared, data-informed approach to identifying students for supports.” We hope you will support us in reaching our goal and help bridge the learning gap for those most impacted by the pandemic.
